John E. Baun

John E. Baun, 70, of Maxatawny, PA passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital. 11 Corinthians 5:8. Absent from the body, present with the Lord.

He was born on January 11, 1951, in Punxsutawney, he was the son of Roberta (Lowmaster) Baun and the late Elmer Baun. He was the loving husband of Linda S. (Spohn) Lebo, whom he married on November 19, 1988. She survives.

He was a 1969 graduate of the Punxsutawney High School, and later graduated from Penn State University with an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

John was a member of the Greater Pennsylvania Carpenters Union and continued his carpentry career in New Jersey. He retired as a carpenter and built and remodeled many houses, Casinos and commercial buildings.  After retiring, he worked part-time at Ace Hardware in Trexlertown.

He was a long standing member of the Punxsutawney local Jaycee chapter, and went on to serve on a state level as a district director.  He continued serving with the local Jaycee chapter in Absecon, NJ and later held several offices for the New Jersey Jaycees, eventually becoming State President 1989-1990, and a member of New Jersey JCI Senate.

He loved spending time with his family, hunting, gardening, and recently discovered hours of enjoyment playing games on the IPad.  He enjoyed serving at Life Church Allentown and Macungie where he was a member since 2002. John loved the Lord his God with all his heart, soul, and mind. He was always quick to listen or offer a helping hand to anyone who needed him. He just completed one year at Celebrate Recovery.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by; son Shane Baun, husband of Somer Baun of Rochester Mills, PA; daughter, Erin Stuber of Fleetwood, PA; two brothers, Kenneth P. Baun and wife Gina of Overbrook, Kansas, Thomas R. Baun and wife Kathy of Rossiter, PA; previous wife Linda L. Baun of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Owen, Ryan and Jacquelyn.

He was predeceased by his father, Elmer, and sister Kay Walborn wife of Gary Walborn of Falls Creek, PA.

 Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay.  A heart of gold stopped beating, Working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 1st at Life Church Macungie, 1609 Trexlertown Rd, Macungie, PA 18062.  Calling hours are from 11am to 1pm, services immediately following.
