Afeef Hanna

Afeef “Al” Hanna, 83, of Allentown, passed away Friday December 25, 2020. Born August 19, 1937 in Zuwaytini, Syria, Afeef was the son of the late Esper and Takieh Hanna. Afeef was the beloved husband of Naify Faris Hanna.

Afeef came to the US in 1967. He traveled to Portland, Oregon from Allentown where he met and married his wife in 1969. They returned to Allentown where he worked several jobs at The Shoe Factory, Alton Fabrics, and Phoenix Clothing. With his determination and persistence, he was able to fulfill his dream of owning his own automotive repair shop. “Hanna’s Garage” was opened in 1981. His automotive shop expanded by his sons and grew into Hanna’s Auto Work and Recycling, Hanna’s Auto & Truck Recycling, and Hanna’s Auto Works. Afeef retired in 2001. Afeef’s love for his family was undeniable. He helped many people when they immigrated to the United States from his homeland of Syria. He opened his heart and home to anyone in need.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years and his children: Sonia and her husband Sam Wehbey, Tony and his wife Janel, Victor and his wife Dima, and predeceased son Alfred Hanna. His brothers the late Abdo, Jajoura, and Jameel Hanna; sisters the late Katour Youseff, the late Ameline Moussa, Selma Atiyeh, Seham Sankari and Geozephine Sattouf. He undeniably loved and cherished his 14 grandchildren: Brian, Nadeen, Brandon, Yasmine, Isabella, Ava, Sofia, Victoria, Gabriella, Anthony, Alexandria, Alfred Jr., Samantha, and Rita. Afeef was a member of St. George Orthodox Church of Allentown.

Services: A viewing will take place on Wednesday, December 30, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave. Allentown, PA 18102. Funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. CDC Covid guidelines will be followed. Face masks will be required. Funeral Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home.
