James L. Gaffney

James L. Gaffney Jr., 86, of Catasauqua PA passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 in the presence of family. James was born July 24, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan   to James L. and Marion (Hansberry) Gaffney. He moved to South Side Bethlehem, PA in 1934 and then to Allentown, PA. He graduated from Allentown High School June 12, 1951. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. James was employed by Mack Trucks for 39 years. He was an active member of UAW Local 677 where he served as Chief Negotiator. He was an active member of the Allentown Boys Club. James enjoyed hiking and backpacking various trails, Appalachian Trail, Long Trail and the C &O with family and friends. James was a professional photographer and an avid painter, co-owning Gafran Gallery with Wilma Corcoran. He was a loving father and grandfather. 
 
He will be lovingly remembered by his family, including children Mary Kordek and her husband Michael of Salisbury Township, PA, John Gaffney and his wife Joanne of Orefield PA, Mark Gaffney and his wife Cathy of Cloudcroft NM, Rita Fritz and her husband Ted of Allentown PA and his 8 grandchildren; Caitlin Linsenmann and her husband Joseph VII, Jeremy Kordek, David Fritz, Kelley Gaffney, Cathleen Gaffney, Kyle Gaffney, Jayce Gaffney and Mason Gaffney. He will also be fondly remembered by Wilma Corcoran, a loving companion. 
 
Memorial Service and Celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown.
