Mark A. Meyer

Mark Allen Meyer, 55, of Asheville, NC passed away Tuesday, Aug. 9 in Asheville. He was the husband of Ruby (Sattouf) Warner Meyer, they were just married in July. Born in Minnesota, he was a son of Joseph and the late Doris (Strehlo) Meyer. Mark was a loving and protective husband and father who was loved by many people. He attended the University of Minnesota School of Music for four years, and spent years as a professional singer with the Opera of Omaha, Nebraska, the Minnesota Opera and Chautauqua (NY) Opera. He also sang in Europe with the St. John's University Men's Chorus. Mark was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS O'Bannon from 1980-1984.

Mr. Meyer worked most of his career in business, mostly in marketing and as a business analyst, most recently at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, and previously worked for Disney and HBO in Manhattan. He enjoyed antique shopping, reading, golf, classical music, hiking the Appalachian, and mostly spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was always quick with a joke, a song, or a funny story and he will be missed terribly by all those who knew him.

Survivors: wife Ruby; his son Nathan; step daughters Halah & Giana; father Joseph Meyer; brother Tony; sisters Ann Meyer, Julie Apaloo, Mary Jacobson and husband Denny, Catherine and husband Tim Heine; many nieces and nephews. Also his in-laws, Kameel & Samira Sattouf, brother in law Chad and wife Mona; sisters in law Renee and husband Andrew Sallit and Robin and husband Joe Smith.

Services: viewing Friday, Aug. 19 starting at 8:30 a.m. at Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown, followed by funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Luncheon will then be held followed by interment at Ft. Indiantown Gap Cemetery, Annville, Pa.
