Audrey Florence Koenig (nee Haase) died on December 9th of complications associated with the dementia from which she suffered for almost ten years.  There will be a Memorial Service on January 16th, Saturday, at 3:00 P.M. at the Van Vleck House and Gardens, Montclair, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Inpatient Unit, 1627 West Chew Street, Allentown, PA  18102.

Audrey is survived by her husband, Robert, with whom she shared 52 years of happy marriage.  She leaves a niece and four nephews:  Melanie, Matthew, Peter, Andrew and Jonathan Haase.  Her only brother, William, died in 2013.

 

Audrey enjoyed a successful career in museum administration.  She devoted all her skills and talents to the Newark Museum, 49 Washington Street, Newark, NJ.  She joined the museum staff in 1955 and retired in 1994, almost 40 years later.  She served as Secretary in the Programs and Publications Department, 1956; Assistant in the Education Department, 1956-1960; Registrar, 1960-1970; Administrative Assistant for the Curatorial Department, 1970-1994.  After she retired, Audrey donated her professional skills and her enthusiasm to the Grover Cleveland Birthplace, Caldwell, NJ and the African Art Museum of the SMA Fathers, Tenafly, N.J. where her husband Robert served as Director from 1996-2015.
