Dennis A. Schlegel, Sr.

Dennis A. Schlegel Sr., 67, of Allentown, died Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice.  He was the husband of Helen (Yanett) Schlegel, they were married 48 years.  Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Ernest and Leona (Smith) Schlegel. 

Mr. Schlegel was a hydraulic mechanic at the former Holan Equipment (Div. Ohio Brass) in Fogelsville for 23 years, and more recently worked in maintenance at Windsor Plaza, Fogelsville for the past 8 years.  He was a hard worker, and even in his free time his hobby was helping others with projects and whatever needed fixing.  Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching his grandson play baseball.  He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam war. 


Survivors:  wife Helen, son Dennis Jr. and wife Janet of Slatington; daughter Kelley Jorge of Topton; sisters Jean Scheir of Whitehall, Arlene Reitz and husband Forrest of Whitehall, Karen Dreher and husband Arlington of Allentown; brothers Ronald and wife Diane, and Kelly and wife Dorothy, both of Allentown; grandchildren Andrew, Adam, Amy, Andrea, Niko; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers Robert (husband of Patti) and Richard (husband of Dorothy). 

Services:  11:00 a.m. Monday at Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown. Visitation from 10:00 until 11:00 in the funeral home.  Directions at
