Sandys Ellis Miller
Sandys Ellis Miller, a long time resident of Allentown PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 11th, 2017 at the age of 85. Born on December 5th, 1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she had also lived in Philadelphia, PA, as well as Madison, NJ, New York and Tennessee as a child. She was the daughter of the late Richard W. and Esther G. (Goodenow) Ellis. She graduated from Agnes Irwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA and attended the Philadelphia College of Art.
Sandys was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, the Allentown Historical Society and the Allentown Art Museum where she was quite active over the years. She was a talented artist and interior designer, having created hand painted floor cloths with custom designs. She raised three children and had been employed at Crest Flooring, Colonial Furniture Manor, and The Morning Call. After retiring she volunteered at the Allentown Art Museum and the Lehigh Valley Heritage Center in Allentown.
She loved music, especially classical, jazz, and The Beatles, attending concerts at her church and at Allentown Symphony Hall. She loved cats and had a wonderful kitty that she named Pony Boy who was her faithful companion.
Sandys is survived by son Kenneth Lee Miller III and his wife Kathy Scheflin Miller, daughter Laura Grace Miller Schantz, son Bruce Williamson Miller and his wife Carol Brinton Raab Miller, all residing in the Lehigh Valley area, and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Oct. 27 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, 3231 W. Tilghman Street, Allentown.
