Joseph C. Bernick

Joseph Charles Bernick, 85, long time resident of Bethlehem, PA and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2017. Joseph was born on November 5, 1931 in Buffalo, NY to Joseph M. Bernick and Allice (Pelton) Bernick Larzelere. The eldest child, he began work as a bellhop at age 15 after his father left the family. At 23 with a wife and young child, he found his calling as a salesman in the emerging electronics industry. Joseph moved 7 times to 5 states with his growing family to advance his career. In 1975, he joined Applied Materials where he retired after 20 years. He led Applied in total sales, won salesman of the year multiple times and was recognized by CEO James C. Morgan as a key contributor to the company’s early success.

In his retirement Joseph pursued his passion for travel, piano, painting and playing bridge. Ever the avid golfers, he and his wife belonged to Silver Creek, Foxfire and Windstar country clubs. Joseph was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Rosemarie (Mazurowski) Bernick, his sister Judy Zon (Robert) and his eldest son Mark Bernick.

He is survived by his brother Donald Bernick (Jayne) of Hamburg, NY, his sister Barbara Reade (Larry) of Cheektowaga, NY, his children John Bernick of Northampton, PA, Julie Bernick of St. Croix, VI, Matthew Bernick (Timothy Norling) of Westminster, CO, Donald Bernick (Amy) of Hampton, NJ and by his six grandchildren, James, Rachel, David, Daniel, Luke and Gwenyth Bernick.
