Adele Peters

Adele Peters, 90, of Allentown died June 12 at her home. Born and raised in the Syrian community of Allentown, she was a daughter of the late John and Emeline (Aeed) Joseph. A graduate of Allentown High School, she was employed by Merchants Bank in Allentown over 40 years. Adele was a Politically active, community-minded proud "Allentonian." She was an exceptional cook and baker whose passion was home life, family, friends and entertaining. Continuing the tradition of her parents, her home was open to everyone at any time and was the center of many occasions. Mrs. Peters was a lifelong member of St. George Orthodox Church and its Ladies Altar Society.
 
She is survived by her daughter Jayne Peters Wasilewski of Allentown and sister in law Jane Joseph; many nieces, nephews and their children whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Peters. She was the last survivor of her siblings, brothers George Joseph, former Lehigh County District Attorney, James Joseph; sisters Olga Keller, Frances Moses and Loretta Makoul. She will be sorely missed and forever loved by her daughter and all those whose lives she touched.
 
Services: viewing beginning 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15 at St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave., with funeral service following at 11:00. Interment at Garden of Peace Cemetery, Fullerton.
