Joseph W. Diffenderfer

Catasauqua, Pa – Joseph W. Diffenderfer died peacefully on July 5th, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospice Care in Bethlehem. Joe was the only child of William H. Diffenderfer and Margaret (McKeever) Diffenderfer. He lived, until his passing, with his partner of 20 years. Joe was a graduate of Catasauqua High School’s class of 1957. Shortly after graduating he served in our country’s National Guard and went on after service to pursue a celebrated career in radio.

His time as a radio DJ started with a stint as one of WAEB’s “Good Guys”. “Tiger Joe McClain”, as he was known to his radio listeners, enjoyed on air time with Jay Sands (deceased), Ernie Steigler (deceased) and Gene Kaye. Joe’s extensive career of 37 years ended in 1994 but had other stops that included WSAN and 11 years with WLEV.

Joe is survived by his partner, Corby Street. He is also survived by his children Michele (Diffenderfer) Kurdes, Mathew Diffenderfer and Michael Diffenderfer and their families.

A celebration of life with take place on July 24th, 2016 from 11:00 to 2:00 pm at Lockridge Furnance Park Pavilion located at 525 Franklin Street Alburtis, Pa 18011. Light refreshments will be served along with stories and a few words from family and friends.
