Violet F. Butler, 86, of Allentown, died Feb. 1 at Cedarbrook home, Fountain Hill. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Frieda (Gilly) Yost. She worked in various knitting mills in the Allentown area for many years, and later retired from Dun & Bradstreet. A graduate of Allentown High School in 1947, she was a dancer at Walter Marsh Dance Troup, and a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown, and also St. Paul's Lutheran in Catasauqua, where she was a sunday school teacher and member of the choir and Altar Circle. Violet was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her son Glenn and fiancee Rebecca Jaindl of Allentown; daughters Carol Harvey and husband Robert of Georgia, and Cynthia Wassum and husband Larry of Allentown; a step son James E. Butler III of Massachusetts, and a sister Rita King of Allentown; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews.
Services: viewing on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown, followed by funeral service at 11:00 with Rev. Gary Walbert officiating. Directions at www.eliasfuneralhome.com.
